20th International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2014)
to be staged for the first time in the Middle East
Zayed University, Dubai is selected to host ISEA201
The ISEA Board is pleased to announce that the 20th International Symposium on Electronic
Art will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in November 2014. ISEA2014 will be hosted by
Zayed University in collaboration with the Dubai Convention Bureau and will engage with a
range of cultural and creative partners in the Middle East.
The Board received two very strong proposals for ISEA2014 from Zayed University, Dubai, UAE
and Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, BC. Following public presentations by both bids at
ISEA2011 in Istanbul and a final bid process, the ISEA Board agreed that that the Dubai bid, with
its focus on the burgeoning field of art and technology in the Arab World would provide a
unique opportunity for ISEA to connect audiences and artists from the Middle East with the
international electronic art community.
Sue Gollifer is currently the Director of the ISEA International Headquarters. She is an artist, a Principal Lecturer in Fine Art and the Course Leader for Digital Media Arts MA and a researcher and curator at the University of Brighton, UK. She is on a number of National and International Committees, including (CAS) the Computer Arts Society, (DAM), Digital Art Museum, and (DAC) the ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Community. She is currently the ACM Chair of ‘The Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement in Digital Art’.
