Because of the seasonal break and the start of a new academic term/semester, we have extended the  Final Call for  ISEA2018 to 23:59 (GMT) on 21 January 2018

  • Should contain an introduction and abstracts from individual discussants (3-6 people)
  • Will take the form of moderator-led groups of 3–5 experts responding to questions on the selected topic
  • 30+15 to 60+30 minutes allotted presentation time depending on number of speakers
  • Submission must be accompanied by signed copyright form available here

The official language of the event is English. Submissions must be written in English.

Institutional Presentations from communities working on matters pertaining to the themes of ISEA symposia, based on their relevance to contemporary trends, developments, and debates, intended as opportunities for networking and as a forum for institutions such as galleries, museums, NGOs, networks, schools, and companies to introduce themselves to the community and discuss for example organizational, financial, and curatorial matters

Submit a proposal:

  • Maximum 1 page
  • Should use submission template
  • 10 minutes is the allotted presentation time and space for presenting posters, brochures, banners, etc.
  • Specific space requirements for larger-format demonstrations and displays  to be specified in proposal
  • Presenters of institutional presentations are not eligible for symposium fee discounts.

Proposals for half, full or two-day workshops during ISEA2018. Workshops will be announced on the symposium website, and organisers may release their own call for submissions and may submit a one-page abstract of their workshop proposal to be included in the proceedings.

To propose a workshop:

  • Proposal maximum 2 pages
  • Should use submission template
  • Title of the workshop/tutorial.
  • Duration: half day or full day
  • Abstract (ready to be released on the symposium website)
  • Rationale/target audience of the workshop (academics, professionals, general public?)
  • Short bios of the organisers
  • Plan of how to solicit participation
  • Preferred venue and necessary special equipment
  • Your preference to possibly exhibit outcomes of the workshop during the symposium
  • Links to any relevant online material

Proposals for interventions, performances, discussions, and other pop-up events to take place in public spaces in Durban and to engage the general public.

Submit a proposal:

  • 1-3 pages including the following:
  • Short abstract
  • Project/ Event description
  • Thematic statement, detailing how the event will relate to its surroundings, and how it reaches out to general public
  • Venue/location preference (if known), OR, venue/location requirements and constraints

  • Estimate budget and an indication of existing financial support

Authors are requested to remove their names and institutions ahead of submission for review and to add back their names for camera-ready version.

ISEA2018: June 23-30, 2018 in Durban South Africa


 

Sue Gollifer is currently the Director of the ISEA International Headquarters. She is an artist, a Principal Lecturer in Fine Art and the Course Leader for Digital Media Arts MA and a researcher and curator at the University of Brighton, UK. She is on a number of National and International Committees, including (CAS) the Computer Arts Society, (DAM), Digital Art Museum, and (DAC) the ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Community. She is currently the ACM Chair of ‘The Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement in Digital Art’.
